It’s still early season in Gulf of Slides. Despite the new snow, avalanche terrain is largely disconnected. We walked to the base of main gully where we observed variable snow surfaces ranging from 4 finger to pencil hard wind slabs. Boot penetration ranged from a few cm’s to boot top. No signs of instability were observed, though general upside down structure was noted in the new snow. GOS ski trail skied decently and rocks and brush were mostly avoidable.
