On day one of our AIARE L1 we traveled a little ways down the summer route to observe the flagging caused by avalanches from previous seasons. While there we did a quick compression test that fractured 30cm down on the 22nd tap. Given the “cash register” effect we decided to conduct an ECT as well, which resulted in ECTP23 down 30cm. While the problem is most likely very isolated, the slab is quite thick in places and could prove to be problematic on steep slopes with a more continuous snowpack. Asp: SE , Elev, 3,900ft.
