Location: 2200′ adjacent Tuckermans Ravine Trail

We conducted numerous hand pits along the Tuckermans Ravine Trail below Hermit Lake. We found large grained striated basal facets most predominantly in our hand Pit at 2200′ (below first switchback) on an East aspect. HS approximately 15″. Facet layer was approximately 5″ thick at the ground.

At 3200′ the HS was approximately 45″. The basal facets were still present although they were smaller and not striated.

Recently, I found similar facets and structure at similar elevations over the past couple of weeks at Smugglers Notch, VT and at Mt. Abram in Maine.
