This afternoon above Hermit Lake it was lightly snowing (S1) and 19 F degrees. Overnight 2 to 3 inches of new snow had accumulated at 3800 feet. Moderate west winds were redistributing loose snow while strong gusts scoured exposed areas. Left behind are drifts of wind firmed snow up to 8 inches thick. Warm temperatures during the evening allowed for a brief period of rain, the effects could be seen up to 4400 feet. Visibility was poor in the higher elevations adding an unknown element to assessing the terrain. No new avalanches were observed.
